HOW HOME AUTOMATION COOLS DOWN YOUR ARIZONA HOUSE

This week, it will be over 100 degrees every day in Yuma, AZ. Keeping cool is not a question here—it’s absolutely essential!

While everyone has air conditioning in Arizona, home automation takes home cooling even further. If you have a Crestron home control system or are interested in Crestron electronics, you can use your home controller to proactively and intelligently cool your house while saving energy.

Here’s how our customers in the Yuma area use Crestron home systems to bring comfort and energy savings to their houses.

AUTOMATED CEILING FANS

Air conditioning is commonly written about in smart home blogs and online literature, but what about ceiling fans? You can get extra airflow through your house by automating ceiling fans through your Crestron home app. Ceiling fans can be wirelessly controlled with the app, remote, or wall keypads, just like your lighting or entertainment.

You’re free to select multiple fan speeds and schedule fans to activate at specific times. When a room reaches a certain temperature, fans can activate automatically. In summer, that may be all the time, but you can use motion sensors to stop fans when the house is empty—thus saving energy.

TEMPERATURE SENSORS

Thermostats communicate with your air conditioning to tell it when to turn on and how much air to push into the house. However, that means your AC doesn’t know the temperature in other rooms and hallways.

Temperature sensors installed across your house will communicate with your home AC system, letting it know when other areas become too hot. Crestron’s remote temperature sensors can be mounted up to 500 feet away from the thermostat and will be integrated into the overall Crestron home system.

MOTORIZED SHADES

Sunlight generates lots of heat in the house, but motorized window shades can help. Temperature and sunlight sensors trigger window shades to lower once it becomes too hot, blocking heat gain from warming the room. And with automated window shades, you’ll also prevent artwork, photos, and furnishings from fading in the sun!

REMOTE AC CONTROL

When your AC system is integrated into a Crestron home, you’re connected to it no matter where you are. If you’re about to head home from work, take out the Crestron app and remotely turn on the AC so your house is already chilled and ready for you when you return. This way, you won’t have to crank the air conditioner all day long, but will enjoy comfort when you need it.
